It is hereby informed to all concerned that as per the existing provisions of the Indian Income Tax Act, 1961, the Income Tax from the individual salary income must be deducted at source by the DDO as far as possible in equated monthly instalments. Any non-compliance of the provisions of this Act for Tax Deduction at Source (TDS) may invite penal action to the concerned DDO. Reminders to this effect are being repeatedly circulated by the Income Tax Department.

It has been observed that some staff members are not deducting their monthly income tax as per the aforesaid norms. It is the abiding and obligatory responsibility of the DDO to ensure and deduct the Income Tax for the entire year as far as possible in monthly EQUATED INSTALMENTS.

As preventive measure against punitive action by the Income Tax department, all individual tax payers are hereby requested to register their monthly tax deduction amount for the FY 2021-2022 at the College Office either on 3^rd or 4^th March, 2021 between 12 Noon to 4 PM.

They are also requested to furnish the following information along with the amount of Income Tax to be deducted:

1.      The amount of monthly GPF to be deducted for financial year 2021-22 and

2.      Any change in the IFSC bank code of WBIFMS linked salary accounts, due to recent merger of different banks in India.

The earnest co-operation of all is requested.
