As an educational institute, we realise the importance and significance of promotion of greenery in our college campus and surroundings. This is highly essential for inculcating environmental awareness and ensuring sustainable development. We are happy to announce that we have taken some simple but essential initiatives to make green college campus.

This is for the information of all that following initiatives will be taken to make the college campus environmentally sustainable:

 Waste management: Ample waste bins will be provided in each floor and also in canteen and outside the college building so as to habituate the students in healthy and hygienic waste disposal practices.

Energy conservation: Students and college staff are to be encouraged to make use of energy saving practices by using energy saving lamps (led bulbs, instead of tube lights), switching off electric appliances when leaving rooms or when sunlight is enough to illuminate rooms.

Water conservation: Students and staff are to be encouraged to make water saving practices a habit by putting off taps after use and immediately report if anyone notices damaged taps with continuously flowing water.

Recycling: Recycling of solvent will be done (e.g., by the method of distillation) by the Department of Chemistry.

Afforestation: SNGGDCG campus has been selected for Afforestation and Beautification Programme under 'Namami Gange Project', Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India for the period 2017-2020 and is being funded and implemented by the Conservator of Forests (Parks & Gardens), Government of West Bengal. In line with this initiative, several afforestation programmes were and will be held in the college campus, also as a part of celebration of Environment Day.

We believe that active participation of college community will definitely help to maintain environmental hazard-free college campus.
